I am a figurative artist and life drawing tutor originally from Dundee, and I graduated from our very own Duncan of Jordanstone back in 2004 I love to work from real life, spending time with the sitter, getting to know them whilst making sketches and taking photos for later creation of their individual piece.

Becoming Nature

I am a huge nature lover, and my personal practice celebrates and honours the magic and realness of humans as nature. In my work you will find all kinds of bodies emerging from or becoming nature. My commissions often hold the sitter, surrounding them in the language of nature, making use of historical, mythological and folk symbolisms and settings to create an evocative narrative.

Life Portraits - Honouring Time

I create colourful ethereal commissions, featuring intimate points of view, informed by my life drawing practice. For a piece I love to work from a variety of sources, layering magic and meaning, through live sittings, photographs and videos. I was recently asked to create something that captures the transformative time of matrescence, and to celebrate who this mother and baby are together, at this emotional and wild time. I was also asked to create something that captured those special quiet breastfeeding moments between mother and baby. My sitter also dealt with chronic illness and fertility struggles and wanted to have a reminder for herself that there is magic in what her body can do in creating her precious baby. I absolutely loved creating this memento and would be very happy to work with you and your little one if you'd like something similar or have your own idea.
